Encourage Success
Providing encouragement and resources!
Encouraging success in Atlanta looks like empowering individuals and communities to reach their full potential. By fostering opportunities for growth, providing mentorship, and celebrating achievements, Activators can cultivate a thriving environment where everyone has a chance to succeed.

To get involved, you can mentor young professionals or students, support local businesses through patronage and promotion, or volunteer with organizations that offer career development programs. Partnering with initiatives like Atlanta 2.0 can also help drive meaningful impact and inspire success citywide.

Atlanta Way 2.0 Board Chair, Ann Cramer, is famous for her "periscope up" philosophy. As she moves through her day Ann keeps an ear open for opportunities to help others. She writes down these items on a note card and commits to follow up on each before the day ends. It could be an introduction or a resource, but before she goes to bed each night she makes sure to check these items off of her list. Imagine helping 3 people a day 365 days a year! You would have almost 1,100 impact moments a year! Not everyone can be an Ann Cramer overnight. Setting a goal to reach out to one person a week is a great start.

Atlanta Way 2.0 Board member Debra Lam says, "Think about a time when someone helped expand your network, offered valuable insights, or opened doors to new opportunities that helped you grow professionally. Did it make a difference in your career? If so, you’re not alone. Social capital — the networks, relationships, and trust that facilitate cooperation — has a profound impact on professional success. Research shows individuals with access to strong social capital are more likely to earn higher wages, receive promotions, and feel satisfied in their jobs."
