CIVIC JOURNALISM

Supporting the future of journalism

Journalism is critical to maintaining a well-informed and engaged community. Our initiative will help connect journalists with outlets in Georgia that need help. Our goal is to create a program that benefits the public through civic journalism. We are currently exploring existing solutions, researching solutions, and how to connect, collaborate, and convene around this cornerstone of democracy. For more information about this initiative reach out to Britton@AtlantaWay.org

Atlanta Way 2.0's founder, Maria Saporta, is an award-winning journalist who launched SaportaReport, an independent outlet focused on civic journalism in Atlanta. SaportaReport has always made it a priority to support journalists early in their careers. As Maria and SaportaReport have been looking toward the future, she decided to lean into helping future journalists. Atlanta Way 2.0 is the perfect organization to oversee this initiative. Atlanta Way 2.0 is working with national and local organizations to develop an initiative that will provide training and hands-on experience to students wanting a career in journalism or people with professional experience who want to transition to journalism.
